The Per 100: Quick Observations (I’m Bored)

So I’m bored and still like 2 hours away from being able to play Elden Ring…so I did that thing where I go through the per 100 possessions numbers on NBA.com. Here’s some observations:

Observation 1

The Warriors finally brought their offense to into the modern day this year taking 40.4 threes per 100 possessions (3rd), but the offense has actually been pretty mediocre (111.4 ORTG, 11th). So...

Steve Kerr was right this whole time???

Observation 2

The Spurs have the highest assist number in the league (27.8 per 100 possessions) and the lowest turnover number (12.5 per 100 possessions).

And like...how?

For reference the next two teams in assists (Nuggets, Warriors) are 23rd and 29th worst at limiting TOs.

Observation 3

The Jazz have truly mastered the regular season at this point. 115.9 ORTG (1st by a whole 2 points) and a 7.0 NET RTG (tied w/GSW for 2nd behind only the Suns).

All this while Donovan and Rudy both missed significant time...

and nobody cares

Observation 4

I'm sure smarter people than I have already figured this out...but there really isn't a correlation between 3 points allowed and ORTG

Here's a graph I made to check that (3PA is x-axis, ORTG is y-axis)
